Tunnels, Abandoned Takeaway Shops and Dreamy Light

I absolutely love it when couples want to do an engagement session as it gives us all a chance to get to know each other that bit better before your big day. And everyone always has a mile of fun! Kira and Matt's E-Shoot was no exception!

We spent the day travelling around to a number of locations around the Newcastle and Redhead area and made the most of the variety of locations. Our first stop was Redhead Bluff, and my were we blessed with some amazing colours! The ocean was the most delectable shades of green and turquoise blue and just made me want to dive right on in! Our next stop was Fernleigh Tunnel, always a popular spot followed by a random stop off at an old abandoned Takeaway shop I spotted in Kahibah. We did get some strange looks from people there wondering what on earth we were doing shooting there. Then the light started to get magical, so we spent some time shooting in and all around Glenrock Lagoon. Oh my God and the light!! The light!!!! It was divine and made me do little happy dances all over the place. We finished up the shoot with some final portraits down on redhead beach.

What a great afternoon we had... and that light!!! Yes, I'm still drooling over the light. I wish the light was like that everyday. *sighs*

Gardens, Burnouts and Fireworks

The 10th May was a beautiful sunny autumn day, barely a cloud in the sky and the sun reflecting off the freshly turned orange leaves. Perfect weather for Kylie and Dean's Hunter Valley Gardens wedding. Merindah spent the morning with the boys, while I started my day with the girls. Kylie had put a lot of thought into the little details of her day and had the coolest shoes. The heel on them was a crystal covered revolver! After making a quick desperate call to Dean asking how to open the bonnet of the VK to attach the ribbons, we set off towards the Hunter Valley Garden's for the ceremony.

Along the way I spotted a few hand written cardboard signs with love notes to Kylie. So I was sure to stop and photograph a few before I got to the ceremony. The ceremony was held at the top of the waterfall. The ceremony was full of beautiful meaningful touches, including setting free some remembrance balloons.

After the ceremony had finished, the bridal party jumped in the stretch Chrysler and the VK and set off for our first location, a quiet secluded road with a beautiful backdrop for a quick few photos with the VK. After we finished with the VK photos, we made our way back to the Hunter Valley Gardens for some more portrait photos. Merindah took the bridal party off to the Sunken Garden and Kylie and Dean came with me. As it started to get dark, we wandered back over to the Japanese Garden where the guests were having canapés, so Kylie and Dean could mingle while we got some photos of the reception details. During the reception, Kylie and Dean announced they were expecting, and brought out a big box so they could do a gender reveal for their new baby. With the help of their children, they opened the box to reveal some pink balloons! The reception guests were absolutely ecstatic. After the speeches and cake cut, there was yet another surprise. The setting off of fireworks just outside the reception room. A perfect end to the reception!!!

Thank you to you both for having us there, Merindah and I had a fabulous day with you and laughed so hard!!

Saxon's First Photoshoot

Its not often I work with little bubbas, but its so nice when couples come back with their little ones. I photographed Baby Saxon's big brother Denver when he was a newborn as well.

Little Saxon was so well behaved at his shoot, and was as easy to photograph as his brother had been when he was tiny. Thanks for bringing this adorable little man to meet me guys! I can't wait to show you the rest of the images!

Adorable Kitties

We all know I'm a sucker for cute kitties, and lately I have been able to photograph a few more of the adorable kittens and cats up for adoption at Nine Live, Four Paws Rescue. Here a few of the Kitties currently looking for their forever homes at the rescue.

Be sure to go and visit Jess and Chris if you are looking to ad a lovely fur baby to your family.

Cliff tops, Tunnels and Open Fields

I really do love shooting engagement sessions with couples, And Bri-Ellen and Nathan's shoot was as awesome as could be! After having her makeup beautifully done by Stacey Hipwell, they arrived at my studio so we could have a sort through some of their clothing options and work out what items of clothing would be best for each location.

Our first stop wasn't too far away at all, being the lounge in my studio. After spending a bit of time there we set off for one of my favourite local fields. We were lucky to get the images that we did in there, as the next day it was mown short. After spending some time in the field, we jumped back in my car and made our way towards Newcastle so we could use a variety of locations. Bri and Nathan's shoot took us everywhere, from Merewether, to Redhead and back to Newcastle.

While shooting at Merewether, the moody clouds finally decided to give way to a small downpour. So after running back to the car, we decided to head to the Fernleigh Tunnel so we could get some images without getting drenched. Thankfully the rain held out long enough for us to get a few images on top of Redhead Bluff, but by the time we got down to the beach, we could see the band of rain making its way up the beach. But instead of running for it, we made the most of it and whipped out the umbrella for a few photos dancing in the rain. By now it was starting to get darker, so we headed into Newcastle to get a last few images with Newcastle Beach lit up in the background.

What a great shoot! And thank you to Bri and Nathan who were happy to keep working with my crazy ideas in the rain!
