A Country Affair

This past weekend I had the great pleasure of doing a couples shoot with Kiera and Andy. I picked them up in the afternoon to take them to their surprise locations.

Our first stop was in East Maitland where we utilised the historic old train station, from there we headed out to one of my favourite places to shoot at Closebourne House at Morpeth. We had a lot of fun here. Andy was determined that he would be able to get through every door there, spider webs continuously getting in our face, hair, clothes and not to mention my lens, finding old rusted golf clubs and the search to find a golf ball so we could play. A lot of fun was had with this young couple. From here we headed to my secret location, and had fun in a hay field. We had some absolutely spectacular light by the time we arrived here. It inspired me so much and I couldve stayed shooting there all afternoon. When packing everything back in the car, we noticed a herd of cattle walking up to the fence near us, so they ended up posing for a few photos as well. After leaving my first secret location, we made our way to my second one. A very large hay shed. We had a lot of fun in here and all came out covered with hay! I'm still trying to get all of the peices of hay off my soft box!

The shoot was incredible and I think we really created some magic. This young couple was an absolute blast to work with! Get married already guys!!

Enjoy!

Christmas Chaos!

Wow, so this lead up to Christmas really is chaotic this year. Trying to cram in all the last of the shoots ready for the break. Last weekend I spent Saturday morning out at Closebourne House doing a photoshoot of my parents for their Christmas pressie. The rain finally stopped for us which was good. I can't imagine my parents wouldve been impressed if I told them I was going to continue shooting even if it was raining. I'll put a few sneakies up from that shoot after Christmas... Can't risk them seeing their Christmas Present early now can we! On Sunday after a lovely trip to Georges cameras in Sydney to buy myself a new camera strap to reduce my neck strain we were scheduled to have a very cool shoot at The Rocks in Sydney. Unfortunately that crazy storm that was all over the news hit and we had to postpone it. There was no way we wouldv'e even been able to get the lights out of the car, so that was a bit disappointing.

This week has been a huuuuuuuuge one for post processing! I have got so much done its unbeleivable! But still plenty more to keep m busy.

This afternoon I am off to a number of very cool locations to do a couples shoot of Kiera and Andy. I hope these clouds that are slowly rolling in keep away as i'm feeling inspired by the harsher light at the moment. So let see how it pans out. Tommorrow morning I will be off to Walka Water Works to shoot a family portrait session. Looking forward to that as well. Will be sure to get some sneak peaks for both of those shoots up before Christmas.

And as promised last blog post, here are some sneak peaks from Baby Gracie's first photoshoot!

Enjoy!!

newborn babies and rainy weather

So here we are, another Friday upon us. And its raining! Pouring to be exact. It has been a very wet and slow week indeed. But the good thing about all this weather is that it has allowed me time to get up to date on a lot of paper work and editting. As a result the productiveness of this week included getting my monthly expenses up to date, getting invoicing up to date, finishing editting the photos from Renee and Shanes wedding, finishing the photos from Gracie's shoot and get through a huge chunk of converting the RAW files from both Alarna and Adam and Amanda and Glenn's weddings. It certainly has been productive. But I can tell you, all this being couped up inside has left me itching to shoot! With all this time to think, my brain has been flooded with so many ideas of things I want to shoot. I just need to find the time to fit it all in!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to shoot an adorable newborn baby, Gracie in my studio. We struggled with Gracie for a while. She was wide awake and had no intention of laying still. after many feeds, her mum having to duck off to a freinds house to get some formula and a lot of cuddles from dad, she finally fell asleep long enough for us to get some really adorable sleeping shots. But it wasn't long before she was awake and kicking thoise tiny feet again! will add a few sneakies shortly

Wow it has been a while!

As the title so rightfully states, it really has been a while since my last post. I had been having a number of issues with my blog not allowing me to sign in and so forth and then with the arrival of our wedding, honeymoon and the onset of a very heavy wedding season, all has been very chaotic! But never fear! I am back!

It would take waaaaay too long to go back over all of the wonderful people I've had the opportunity to work with over the last few months, so i thought I'd use this post to show you a few of my favourites from the last few months. We have been very very busy as I'm sure those of you who follow our facebook page would be very well aware.

So without further adieu, here are some of my favourites from recent shoots.

AIPP Wedding and Portrait Photography Seminar

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the AIPP seminar that was held in Newcastle. It was presented by Steve Saporito. I had a great time there and learnt plenty from the seminar. It was also great to get to meet more like minded people who are also local wedding and portrait photographers. It really got me inspired to do some more work to the studio. So tommorrow I am intending to spend a bit of time mounting some more prints and prettying up the studio. I'm inspired! Thanks Steve!

This afternoon I have a client coming around to go over the final details for her upcoming wedding. Looking forward to that one! Then back to editting the photos from The Towns family photoshoot.

Nice relaxing weekend ahead. Well deserved I think :-)

A Long Time...

Wow! So it really has been a long time since I wrote a blog. So much has been happening I don't even know where to begin. So I suppose I will just put up a few sneaky ones from the last few shoots...

So first off, I had a shoot with the beautiful newborn baby, Harper. She wasn't exactly shy in front of the camera either and really came to life when we put her in the basket for some of the photos. I had a lot to work with in Stu and Jess's lovely home, but chose to keep it simple, working in front of a large window with spectacular natural light streaming through. This enabled me to do the entire shoot using no flash or other lightng, while getting beautiful soft tones. I have never been much of a photographer of newborn babies, so I thank Stu and Jess for giving me the opportunity to take some photos of their special little girl!.

Secondly was my little sisters debutante ball. Before heading to the ball, We took Kiera and her Partner Brad and both of the families out to Walka Water Works to take some family photos as well as a few of just Brad and Kiera. Everyone was very happy with all of the photos.

The weekend just gone was quite the busy one. On Saturday I did a maternity shoot with Prue and her partner Daniel. We were lucky enough that the weather held off for us! The original plan was to do the shoot at Tocal homestead, but upon arriving and finding out that it was closing early for the day, we headed up to Paterson. Here we wandered around a number of different areas and utilised the natural beauty Paterson has to offer as well as all the historical buildings and structures in the area.

On the Sunday we did a family shoot for the Town's family in their specacular apartment with a breathtaking veiw of the harbour. It was a very fun shoot, and required very little posing as the Town's family interacted with each other naturally and were full of laughs! I'm very much looking forward to going through the photos from this shoot.

And finally, I blogged about this some time ago, but thought I would put up one of my favourite candid shots from little Kiarah's Christening.

Enjoy!

Joellen and Michael Tie the Knot

The past Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Joellen and Michael's Wedding at the registry office in Newcastle. It was a small, private ceremony with only their closest relatives. After the ceremony we made our way to Civic Park to spend some time taking all the family photos. When we finished shooting here we wandered across the road to the Town hall and took some more group shots on the steps before I spent some time alone doing photos with Jo and Michael. We had some wonderful locations to work with over the four hours the couple had allowed for their photos. The locations we used were Newcastle Town Hall, both in the afternoon and into the night, King Edward Park, Fort Scratchleys for some beautiful sunset photos and the Ocean Baths for some early dusk photos. I had a great time working with this couple, and they could not take a bad photo! And we were blessed with wonderful weather for the whole afternoon which added to the magic of the photos we could create. Thankyou for allowing me to play such an important role in your day guys!

This week I have a big week of editting both of these last weddings ahead of me. I am solidly working through the photos from Matt and Peggy's wedding and am very please with the results we could create for them. So i thought i would add just one more sneak peak up here for them.
