Golden lakes and glowing lamp posts

This past week, as some of you may know, I have been in sick dying with the flu for about 6 days. And when I say dying, I wasn't really dying, just feeling very sorry for myself. And of course, sickness always seems to know when you have a big day ahead, so it chose to have its most intense outbreak on the morning of Dave and Bec's wedding. So I rugged myself up, packed the car and packed my camera bag full of Codral Cold and Flus and Strepsils, hoping to God I didn't end up having a coughing fit in the middle of the ceremony. Thankfully I made it through (can't say the same for me sitting here right now though). After the ceremony at Lovedale Chapel, we made our way over to Wandin Estate to utilise the glorious golden light that was shimmering across the lake. We shot there until we lost the last bit of light and made our way off to the second location, Maitland Mall. I get a lot of strange looks when I suggest Maitland Mall as a location, but trust me, by night, it photographs beautifully! Remember those iconic rain photos from a few months ago? Yeah, Maitland Mall! By the time we got to the Mall, it was getting very dark and we had to work fast as I was starting to go downhill with coughing fits, and poor Bec had a terrible migraine. We then made our way to the reception at East Maitland Bowling Club so everyone could get warm. Bec and Dave were so accomodating to us, and I was beaming all over the place when I left, they made sure the whole day while I was sick that I had everything I needed and that I felt OK. You guys are awesome! Thanks for a great day!

Last week I also got to spend a lovely fresh morning on the Central Coast with Michael and Anna, whose wedding I shot a few months ago, doing a quirky post wedding shoot. We spent the morning down at Amazement on the Central Coast and have everything from heart shaped hedge mazes to baby bunnies and couples bikes! Thanks for a great morning guys!

Later that afternoon, I put my scarf back on and braved the wind for a late afternoon fashion shoot in Morpeth. Decided to process the images a bit more dark and moody than my usual style.

Pinups, Pets and Pretty Millenery

Ok, so yesterday I started filling you in on whats been happening over the space of time its taken us to move into the new house/studio. So heres part two!

A few weeks ago an old friend of mine came to visit to treat herself to a pinup makeover shoot. I surprised myself at my ability to do pin up hair and makeup on someone else! So for this shoot I played the role of photographer, modelling coach, Hair and makeup artist, wardrobe and chauffeur! We had a great afternoon driving around to a number of locations and catching up on the old times while we worked.

I've also been doing a fair bit of volunteer work lately for Nine Lives Four Paws Rescue in Rutherford (https://www.facebook.com/ninelivesfourpaws) who do an incredible job of saving cats and finding their forever homes. My own dear little Luna came from this very rescue. I have been working with a number of the kitties on photoshoots to help them have the best chance at finding their perfect family. This Past few weeks I have been doing photoshoots with Rusty and Thumbelina (and a guest appearance from Chilli {please note Chilli is much loved and is not up for adoption}). If you are interested in finding out any more about these lovely cats, please contact Jess or Chris at Nine Lives Four Paws Rescue.

As I mentioned yesterday, I got to work with two very incredibly talented designers to photograph their headwear ranges. The first one was a bridal headwear shoot for All About Romance (www.allaboutromance.com.au). Kylie is extremely talented at what she does. Her work is all hand made with the beautiful old world touch to it. For anyone looking for stunning vintage style hair peices and veils, I highly recommend you pay Kylie a visit!

The following weekend I was out at Tocal Homestead again photographing both the bridal and 'Cruella de Ville" ranges from Heidi and Jasper (www.heidiandjasper.com). Heidi's range is perfectly suited to the bride who wants something totally unique that will be remembered! Be sure to go and check her out!
