The Busiest Fortnight

This past fortnight has been a very busy one for Candice Campbell Photography, both shooting and with meetings with many lovely couples. I also had my week long trip to Gladstone in QLD thrown into the mix as well. Half a holiday, half shooting, very enjoyable.

But lets get back to the beginning...

On Friday the 8th June, I had the honour of photographing the big day of a very brave young couple, Rikki and Gareth. Gareth is very unwell, and many suppliers from across the Hunter Valley pulled together to create the most perfect and magical day for them. A huge thanks to Tocal Homestead, Cater force, Classic chevs, Dj Kev and all the other suppliers who all helped to create this very special day. We feel honoured to have been a part of it.

The following day I had another huge one ahead of me. I spent the whole day shooting for the Maitland Junior Rep's 'Lion, the witch and the wardrobe" show. After their long day of dress rehearsals ended, Lell and Guil, the lovely couple who run the rep, got themselves dressed up for their engagement shoot with a difference. Since the rep is such a huge part of both of their lives, it was only fitting we did the shoot on the stage with their sets for the lion the witch and the wardrobe.

While I was in Gladstone, I had a number of shoots to do as well. The first was a mini couples shoot with Maddy and Aden in one of the local laundromats. I must say we did get a few rather odd looks from the workers who were doing their late night washing.

While there, we also did a mini fashion shoot for Maddy. Once again, strange looks as we put her inside some of the dryers. Our aim was to get something a little kitschy, and I think we achieved that.

While in Gladstone, I spent two days sussing out the perfect locations for Robyn and Callum. They wanted locations that were a bit different from the typical pretty locations. So I took them to a number of somewhat obscure places I had found around Gladstone. Then we finished off in the Tondoon Botanical Gardens for a few contrasting rainforest shots. I had a great day working with this couple. Thanks guys for being so keen to try some really different locations and for not being afraid to climb into all that long grass.

Needed some Gumboots!

Yesterday I got to work at one of my most favourite locations, Tocal Homestead. I met the lovely young couple, Makayla and Sam, out there in the afternoon. It was raining and everything was rather sloppy. While unpacking all my gear, complete with towels and umbrellas out of my boot, we were asked by a passer by if we were really going to attempt to shoot. There was no questions on whether I was going to shoot it or not. To be perfectly honest, I love shooting in the rain! We spent our afternoon wandering around Tocal putting the umbrella up and down, up and down, since the weather had moments of rain and then moments of clear skies. The animals of Tocal were all out and about, happily munching away and were more than happy to be in the shots. We ended up with sheep, horses and chooks in our photos. Something a little bit different. Thankyou Makayla and Sam for being so keen to work in the wet. I had a blast!
