Ash love hearts...

A few weeks ago our very own Merindah and her boyfriend Brian volunteered to do a trash the dress session in the Ash around Catherine Hill Bay. It was a very hot afternoon, and the flies were quite the pain while we were shooting (and while I was processing the images for that matter!). We all got very filthy in the process of the shoot with involved much rolling in the ash and picking up burnt peices of rubble and drawing on each other with it.

Candice Campbell Photography is currently running a special on Trash the Dress shoots over the Christmas period, so if you would like something like this or the Holi Powder shoot Nat and Scott did a few weeks ago (or any other theme), be sure to get in quick as there are only a few spots available for them!

Crystals and Crisp White

On the 26th October, I packed the car full of props and made my way out to The Vintage in Pokolbin to meet with Libby and her bridesmaids who were getting ready at Libby's parents house, while Merindah made her way off to meet the boys.

Libby and Mark's theming for their wedding was just stunning! From the bridesmaids and groomsmen all in different colours, with accessories matching perfectly, to the crystal chandeliers and crisp white draping, tied the outfits, ceremony and reception decor all in together.

After their perfect, but very warm ceremony at Tuscany Estate, we made our way out to a number of locations for their portrait session. Due to the recent bushfires, there was a lot of smoke in the air creating a warm red haze for most of the day. Once the sun started to drop, that red haze turned into a brilliant, glowing red sunset that sparkled through the trees and made me jump around alot with excitement! A little bit too much so though, as I managed to fall through some grape vines and slice the top of my foot open on the wire hidden in the vines. All this was managed without hitting the ground at all though and many laughs from Libby and Mark.

Once back at Tuscany for the reception, the red haze continued and made for stunning light as we grabbed Libby and Mark for their first dance photos with the sun blazing through the window creating a soft, warm red light. Perfection!

Thank you for having us there to share your day Libby and Mark! It was just sensational and you both looked so much in love I could have photographed you all day!

A Vintage and Handmade Fairytale

When Ashleigh and Tristan booked me to shoot their wedding I was so excited! Everything Ashleigh was planning sounded like an amazing vision that belonged on Pinterest, and all the vintage and handmade quirks were right up my alley.

On the 19th October, I arrived at the beautiful Tuscany Estate to start shooting Ashleigh and her bridesmaids getting ready. Zoe had headed off to meet with Tristan and the boys at Lochinvar at Tristan's parents house. The girls were so cool, calm and collected, with a bit of dubstep playing off an iPhone in the background to get them pumped up for the day. Ashleigh had so many beautiful little details, there was so much to work with! She chose to keep her dress hidden, as her bridesmaids had not yet seen it, and it wasn't until the last minute that the stunning sparkling and fluttering gown emerged from its bag. I think everyone was in awe of it!

The boys were waiting nervously up at the ceremony location and there was not a cloud in the sky! Down the aisle was cute little mason jars full of flowers provided by TLC Designs. After some very heartfelt vows and the sealing with a kiss, the ceremony was over and Tristan and Ashleigh were now Mr and Mrs!

After some family photos, Ashleigh and Tristan jumped in my car and we headed off on location to do some portraits. We had the perfect light, with just a nice amount of sun flare (which anyone who has worked with me before knows I get very excited about).

The reception was just getting started when we arrived back at Tuscany, with everyone excitedly waiting on the arrival of the new Husband and Wife. Stunning, quirky details of books, candles, mason jars, fresh flowers and vintage cameras filled the room, every one with its own unique touch (also provided by TLC Designs). After meals, some hilarious speeches that had even me in tears everyone made their way to the dance floor to party to the as per usual, awesome tunes of XYDJ!

What a fantastic day! Every little detail, and the love between Ashleigh and Tristan was just magic. I would gladly shoot their day all over again, just so I could take it all in again. Thank you both for having me there to share your day!

A colourful warzone!

This past week I met up with Natalie and Scott, whose wedding was a few weeks ago, to do a very fun Trash the dress session. Natalie used one of my hire gowns so that we wouldn't dirty up her beautiful gown. If you were not aware, we have 38 gowns in varying styles and sizes ready for trash the dress shoots.

It was a very early morning, with the shoot to take place right on sun up, so Nat and Scott arrived at my studio at 4am ready for the trek down to Catherine Hill Bay. In the recent bush fires, a large section of Catherine Hill Bay's famous jetty had burnt down, so we decided underneath the missing section would be a great spot for us to have some fun with holi powder.

When we arrived at Catherine Hill Bay, we still had plenty of time before sun up, so we went for a little trek up through some of the burnt out area and looked sadly upon the smouldering remains of Wallarah house. Once the sky started to turn pink, we made our way down the beach and started to have some fun. Nat and Scott had an absolute blast throwing the holi powder at each other, and were more than happy to start slamming it in each others face! It made for some very amusing images! We did not stop laughing the whole time!

By the time we finished the shoot, the beach below the jetty looked like a very colourful war zone. I think anyone who went down there after we left would have been very confused!

Don't forget, we normally keep a store of holi powder ready, so if you would like to have a fun, holi powder trash the dress session, be sure to let us know! And don't panic, it does wash out with cold water ;-)

Enjoy!
