Freezing Winds

Today I had the great pleasure of working with Suraj and Thusitani up at the beautiful Soldier's Point in Port Stephens. I had prepped for rain, but we had a beautiful sunny afternoon. We also had gail force freezing winds! It made some of our locations a bit of a battle, but we still managed to have fun and get some beautiful photos. Although i don't think my body has recovered from the cold yet. Thank you so much Suraj and Tani for allowing me to capture these beautiful memories for you both! And thank you for braving the cold and the wind with me!

Golden Afternoon Light

Probably my favourite time to shoot is that wonderful time of the afternoon when the light is just low enough to cast that beautiful soft golden hazy glow over the countryside. And this weekend that was exactly what i was blessed with!

One of my lovely couples, Jenny and Matt travelled up from their Sydney home to spend the afternoon with me creating some country style photos for their engagement. The afternoon had started to look a little bleak, but by the time we started shooting, there it was! that beautiful golden light!

The previous day we had amazing light as well when I had the opportunity to work with the adorable young couple Donald and Cassie! Thankyou to both these couples for allowing me to capture these beautiful memories of you!

Photographer Profile: Candice King

CANDICE KING

A little about yourself:
I see myself as somewhat of an eclectic mix. I’m a 50s girl who loves to throw her old beaten up pointe shoes on and dance in the kitchen, has an obsession with aviation, abandoned buildings and anything vintage. I’m forever looking at the world as though I have a camera attached to my face and I enjoy painting realist portraits.

Education:
I attended Avondale college where completed my bachelor of teaching and my bachelor of fine arts before starting up Candice Campbell Photography.

What did you want to be when you grew up:
I wanted to be two things, one, a ballerina. I spent so much of my childhood and teenage years doing quite extensive ballet training and I was convinced I would dance with the Australian Ballet. Second (though a much younger dream), I wanted to be a tight rope walker.

How long have you been interested in photography:
I’ve been interested in photography since I was young. Though at that stage I only had a point and shoot film camera. Didn’t stop me from attempting to do photoshoots though. Oh the excitedment of waiting for those photos to come back developed.

Where is your favourite location to shoot:
Too many to list. Though I must say, my favourites are generally anything country and quirky. At the moment I have an obsession with wanting to shoot in the snow and the desert!

Why did you chose photography:
I see the world through colours, shapes and compositions and have a constant desire to replicate what I see so it can forever be remembered. Be it through painting or photography. The colours and emotions of the world are so rich and amazing and they need to be captured.

Favourite thing to photograph:
My favourite thing to photograph, without a doubt is weddings and couples in love. I don’t think its possible for me to see and landscape without imagining a bride and groom in it!

What was your first "proper" camera:
While I was in the early years of my degree I hired old Canon 300 film cameras and then made the switch to the Canon 350D while saving up to buy my first SLR, the Canon 450D before moving on to the Canon 5D MkII.

Matthew Farrugia

A little about yourself:
When I am not using my camera I like to spend time at the beach, working on my car, watching YouTube videos of some of my  favourite photographers.  I like going to Tafe, love my skate board and I love spending time with my friends, family and girlfriend.

Education:
I went to school at Wadalba community  college and went to year ten and left to further my studies in obtaining cert II and III in retail. I am first aid qualified and I am currently studying photography at Tafe and looking to start uni next year

What did you want to be when you grew up:
I always wanted to be a chef

How long have you been interested in photography:
I have been interested in photography for my whole life. There is just something about a photo that tells a good story, but I have got in to it more so then before in the last year or 2

Where is your favourite location to shoot:
My favourite shoot location would have to be Norah head beach on the rocks

Why did you chose photography:
I chose photography because it is something that I have more than a passion for. Its more of an obsession and I like the feeling of capturing a memory for someone, something they will treasure for life

Favourite thing to photograph:
I really enjoy landscape photography but I have started to really enjoy modelling and weddings

What was your first "proper" camera:
My first camera was a Nikon D5100 with kit lenses .

Busy busy weekend!

This weekend has been one of the busiest ones I've had in a while! On Saturday I had the wedding of the lovely couple Matt and Mel, Sunday morning I had a table scape shoot with beautiful tangerine hues with TLC Designs and Sunday afternoon I got to work with Kiera and Andrew in a very awesome location in Newcastle.

So to start off with, here are a few from Matt and Mel's wonderful wedding in Pokolbin.

And here are a few from the Sunday afternoon shoot with Kiera and Andrew. Still to come, some sneakies from the tablescape shoot with TLC.

Enjoy!

And for something a little more random, a shot I did the other weekend while doing some landscapes down at Somersby falls. My sister was working with one of her freinds on her HSC photography assignment, but I could resist pinching her model for just one shot.
