A Long Time...

Wow! So it really has been a long time since I wrote a blog. So much has been happening I don't even know where to begin. So I suppose I will just put up a few sneaky ones from the last few shoots...

So first off, I had a shoot with the beautiful newborn baby, Harper. She wasn't exactly shy in front of the camera either and really came to life when we put her in the basket for some of the photos. I had a lot to work with in Stu and Jess's lovely home, but chose to keep it simple, working in front of a large window with spectacular natural light streaming through. This enabled me to do the entire shoot using no flash or other lightng, while getting beautiful soft tones. I have never been much of a photographer of newborn babies, so I thank Stu and Jess for giving me the opportunity to take some photos of their special little girl!.

Secondly was my little sisters debutante ball. Before heading to the ball, We took Kiera and her Partner Brad and both of the families out to Walka Water Works to take some family photos as well as a few of just Brad and Kiera. Everyone was very happy with all of the photos.

The weekend just gone was quite the busy one. On Saturday I did a maternity shoot with Prue and her partner Daniel. We were lucky enough that the weather held off for us! The original plan was to do the shoot at Tocal homestead, but upon arriving and finding out that it was closing early for the day, we headed up to Paterson. Here we wandered around a number of different areas and utilised the natural beauty Paterson has to offer as well as all the historical buildings and structures in the area.

On the Sunday we did a family shoot for the Town's family in their specacular apartment with a breathtaking veiw of the harbour. It was a very fun shoot, and required very little posing as the Town's family interacted with each other naturally and were full of laughs! I'm very much looking forward to going through the photos from this shoot.

And finally, I blogged about this some time ago, but thought I would put up one of my favourite candid shots from little Kiarah's Christening.

Enjoy!

Joellen and Michael Tie the Knot

The past Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Joellen and Michael's Wedding at the registry office in Newcastle. It was a small, private ceremony with only their closest relatives. After the ceremony we made our way to Civic Park to spend some time taking all the family photos. When we finished shooting here we wandered across the road to the Town hall and took some more group shots on the steps before I spent some time alone doing photos with Jo and Michael. We had some wonderful locations to work with over the four hours the couple had allowed for their photos. The locations we used were Newcastle Town Hall, both in the afternoon and into the night, King Edward Park, Fort Scratchleys for some beautiful sunset photos and the Ocean Baths for some early dusk photos. I had a great time working with this couple, and they could not take a bad photo! And we were blessed with wonderful weather for the whole afternoon which added to the magic of the photos we could create. Thankyou for allowing me to play such an important role in your day guys!

This week I have a big week of editting both of these last weddings ahead of me. I am solidly working through the photos from Matt and Peggy's wedding and am very please with the results we could create for them. So i thought i would add just one more sneak peak up here for them.

Trash the Dress shoots and Country Weddings

The past few weeks have been very busy with much planning, shooting and editting. Last weekend I had the great pleasure of doing a trash the dress shoot with Sarah Hill. We started at my studio in the morning to discuss the shoot and to do make up. The makeup for the shoot was done by Ali from Eye Candy By Ali (http://www.eyecandybyali.com/). After we had finished with makeup, we headed off to Somersby Falls on the Central Coast. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day, which definately worked to our advantage as i was able to create some lovely photos utilising the flare that was created by the sun and it warmed up the water just the tiniest bit. Although my legs did still take days to recover. It was a wonderful shoot, and would have to be up there with my favourite shoots! Ali did a spectacular job with Sarah's makeup, and Sarah did an amazing job braving the cold water of the falls to submerge herself. Thankyou both for a wonderful day girls!

This past weekend was another exciting one, with Matt and Peggy's wedding on Saturday and Kiarah's christening on Sunday. On Saturday we were given another lovely sunny day. The ceremony took place in the beautiful All Saints Anglican Church in Singleton. After the ceremony we took some beautiful photos of Matt and Peggy and the Church before heading out to a property in Maison Dieu for the location photos. This property had so many wonderful places to take photos, and to top it off, we had the beautiful afternoon light to work with. It was a beautiful day, and I'm so grateful to have been able to share it with Matt and Peggy! Thankyou for allowing us to be part of your special day!

On Sunday morning I made my way down to St Luke's Anglican Church at Wallsend to photograph little Kiarah's Christening. It was a beautiful church, completely made out of stone. And it had spectacular light inside! After the ceremony we moved outside and took all the family photos in front of the beautiful stone walls. Thankyou to Kihyah and Adam for allowing me to capture another one of their significant events in their life!

Now begins preparations for Joellen and Michael's wedding this coming Friday. Another busy busy week ahead for Candice Campbell Photography!

It's been a while

It has been a little while now since I posted a new blog. Life has been crazy of late due to a loss in the family, and Candice Campbell Photography took a short break from it all, but never fear, we are back in action. Last weekend, as a little exercise to get back into the swing of things, I took my sister out to the Hunter River to do a small photoshoot with her. We were lucky enough to have perfect light for the occasion and a warmer day. I ended up enjoying the temperature of the water in the river so much, that I sat down in my clothes in the river to shoot. So it ended up being a good thing I packed a number of large beach towels for the drive home.

In other news, Candice Campbell Photography is now registered as an emerging member with the AIPP and is looking at doing our first Wedding Expo in the next few months. Big things are ahead for us at the moment!

Tommorrow I will be doing a very fun Trash the Dress shoot in a very unusual location! Stay tuned for photos!

Country Brides and Vintage Aircraft

This past weekend was another very busy one, but also a very fun one. I had two very different shoots. The Saturday morning shoot was a bridal shoot with Emma and her beautiful horse up at Glen Oak. This was a very exciting shoot, as i have wanted to do a horse shoot for some time now. Many laughs were had as the horse got more and more bored with the whole situation. More laughs were had when the other horses in the paddock realised what was going on and decided to wander in to the shots to try and work out if the bouquet was food and what this veil thing was. We were lucky to have a lovely sunny day rather than the forcasted rain, but this also caused problems with the light coming through the tress as it caused dappling on Emma's skin. This was probably the biggest difficulty of this shoot and required a fair amount of fill flash from my speed light to try and fix it up. After the shoot i went through and culled the photos and was very happy with what we came up with! what a great shoot!

The next day i had a productive morning of editting wedding photos before cleaning my gear again and heading off to another shoot. This shoot was for the lovely couple Joellen and Michael. I will be photographing their wedding in 6 weeks time and as part of their package, they opted for an engagement shoot. Both Michael and Joellen have a passion for the 40s-50s era, so it was only fitting that we would do a themed photoshoot for them. For this shoot we had the use of a vintage Boeing Stearman aircraft. The couple dressed for the era perfectly and fun was had by everyone involved with the shoot. The Stearman was so squeaky clean that we were able to get some great reflections on it. and the floor reflected the light beautifully too. the ceiling of the hangar was lined with a metallic insulation, so it was great for bouncing the flash off. Very much looking forward to editting some more of these photos.

Just want to say a big thankyou to Ben Merkenhoff, Michael Worthington and Ryan for their help with this shoot and for the use of the aircraft and the hangar. For more information, visit Vintage Aviation at http://www.vintageaviation.com.au/.

Stay posted for more sneak peaks!

Red Lips and Beach Balls

This weekend was a very busy one. On Saturday morning we had a meeting with a new client to discuss her wedding. I was very excited to show off my new canvas print and sample album. After we finished there, we cleaned our gear and headed down to Redhead beach to do a swimwear photoshoot with the Pinup Kittens. The shoot was a group shoot with 5 girls and some wonderful swimwear provided by Miss Fancy Pants. Unfortunately however, the weather did not want to play in our favour. We were hoping for a bright sunny day to add a sense of fun and happiness to the summer themed shoot. But instead, the weather presented us with some less than ideal rain clouds and some pretty intense wind.

After attempting some of the original shots we had planned up on top of the rocks using a yellow diffuser on my flash to try and get a bit of warmth into the chilly day, we decided to move to more sheltered areas as the wind was not cooperating with the girls hair. We had to do the majority of the rest of the shoot in a little tucked away part in the rocks. Not exactly the background i wanted for the shots, but was the only way we were protected from the wind and the sand.

For the grand finale of the shoot, the girls ran throught the water, splashing around. This was very quickly stopped though as the waves brought more and more blue bottles onto the sand. After this, we called it a day. I havent had a chance to look through them yet, but as soon as i do, i will get some posted up here.

Last night was a very productive one, all my photos from the ALACs spot landing competition are now fully editted! I'm also halfway through editting the photos from Dannielle and Kaine's wedding, which is very very exciting! So much more to be done. Looking forward to getting into some more editting today!
